Hand-Tied Bouquet Class @ Jamie Aston Flower School

So my fascination with floristry has grown massively over the past few years and for a while I have been looking into doing a floristry course. Whilst having a look online I stumbled across the Jamie Aston Flower School, the most gorgeous chic high-end floristry design school & online shop, where my mum and I signed up for their Hand Tied Bouquet evening in their workshop in Marylebone. My mum is a huge garden person who spends half her life watering and looking after her little courtyard (and the 3 token plants I have in my house that are usually forgotten) and there is a constant vase of flowers she has picked from the garden on display in her house.

The workshop was a gorgeous double height ceiling (drool) exposed brick room with overflowing baskets of flowers, shrubbery, planters and shelves stacked high with the most amazing vases, mirrors and hanging ornaments. Really this room would rival any chic New York apartment; it even had double height glass sliding doors with black metal trim… I mean come on. Anyways, I would’ve happily have moved in there and then. There were 6 components to the bouquet we were going to make (will list below) all gorgeous pink tones. We were taken through a demonstration by the lovely and knowledgably Sharnie and then got to work on our own. Safe to say, she made it look very easy however it very defiantly was not. After a few failed attempts I finally got the hang of the awkward grip and finished my circle and after a few adjustments by Sharnie, my hand tied bouquet was well and truly tied up. We chopped off the ends and tied around plastic to fill with water for inside the box (just like the professionals right) and tudaa! Finished product worthy of any florist - plus we got to take everything home with us.

Overall the evening was really magical, there were 6 students in the evening class which gave a sense of intimacy and meant we could ask questions (without feeling stupid). I definitely recommend for anyone looking to try their hand at floristry or even just for a girly mother-and-daughter/friends catch up.
